Central Oak Park has been issued a variance request for improvements to be made to the building/property, owned by Squaremouth, located at 4355 Central Avenue. The variance request application is still in the submittal stage and a hearing has not, yet, been scheduled.
Here's a summary, as provided by Brett Castellucio, with Design Styles Architecture: "Squaremouth will be requesting that they be allowed to encroach 3’-0” into the 5’-0” alleyway setback so that an elevator may be added to the north end of the Church. As you may know, the church has been undergoing renovations to preserve the existing structure, historic elements and update the interior for their business. One issue that has been identified with the ongoing interior updates is the lack of ADA (Americans w/ Disabilities Act) access to the 2nd floor of the church, thus locating an elevator that minimally impacts the space, perspective from Central Ave., historic elements and structure has influenced our decision to place the elevator on the north end in the alley."
The applicant has provided the following forms: Application, Site Plan, Elevation, and Floor Plan.
