On March 11th, we had a couple of neighborhood girls set up a lemonade and baked goods stand, with the goal of raising money for their fellow students, who couldn't afford to attend an upcoming class field trip to Kennedy Space Center. These girls and their classmates are students at Mt. Vernon Elementary School. The idea was theirs, alone, and the association feels that it exemplifies our mission of fostering a sense of community in Central Oak Park.
They were able to raise $240, that day, but are still $1000 short of their goal. Please consider donating to their cause and helping out our local students. As stated by one of the girls' parents, it's reinforcing what we try to teach the kids, that you can change the world, one person at a time, and that a small gesture can mean a great deal to someone else, especially when it comes from the heart!
A COPNA member has generously offered to match our donations up to $500. If you'd like to donate, please use this link.
